Use the Map Tools menu to build routes, measure distances and areas, or mark points of interest with Route, Area, and Waypoint markups.
Any markups you create are saved to the My Content menu and sync to your account across all logged-in devices with internet connectivity. Edit saved Markups by selecting them on your map or from the My Content menu and selecting Edit.
Markups saved offline won't sync to your account until the device they were saved from connects to the internet.

Building Routes and Measuring Distance
To create a Route that snaps to existing trails or to measure distance with a line, select Create Route from the Tools menu or tap and hold on your map and select Build Route.
Build a Route
Tap Snap To and begin dropping points by tapping on an existing trail shown on your map—the Route Builder tool will "snap" a line that follows the underlying trail.
Tip: If the Snap To feature isn't functioning due to a gap in the underlying routing graph and fails to "snap" to a trail, switch to Point Draw and manually drop points until you've cleared the gap and can switch back to Snap To.
Swipe the menu up and make any desired changes to customize the route's name, color, type, or weight on your map, then select Save.
Measure Distance
If you'd prefer to measure the distance between two points, switch to Point Draw to measure distance in a straight line.
Tip: Enable Two Finger Distance Measure in your app Settings and hold two fingers on your map to quickly measure the distance between two points.
Swipe the menu up and make any desired changes to customize the line's name, color, type, or weight on your map, then select Save.
Marking Points of Interest
Use Waypoints to quickly mark key points of interest on your map for future reference by tapping and holding a finger on your map, tapping your map and selecting Add Waypoint, or by opening the Tools menu and selecting Create Waypoint or Mark My Location.
Create Waypoint
This feature drops a Waypoint at the center of your screen—tap anywhere on screen to reposition it.
Swipe up on the Waypoint info card to change the Waypoint name, icon, or color, attach a photo, add it to a folder, or use the Notes field to add more information, then tap Save.
Mark My Location
Instantly marks your current location with a default-styled Waypoint saved to your My Content menu.
Saving Area Shapes
Use the Create Area option in the Tools menu to measure the surface area contained within the boundaries of a shape you generate.
Drop three or more points by tapping on the map, and fine-tune placement using the on-screen crosshairs and selecting Drop Point.
Tap Undo to delete the previous dropped point, and drag any of the points to reposition it.
Tip: Use Free Draw on the Web Map from a computer and web browser to use your mouse cursor to draw Areas on your map more easily.
Swipe the info card up to change the Area name, add notes, or adjust the shading, line color, style, and weight, then tap Save.
