Switching to another mapping program can be a painful experience if you don't want to lose your content, but onX Backcountry gives you the ability to upload this information into your onX Backcountry account to ease the transition.
To export your saved items out of the CalTopo app, tap the Map Items button at the bottom of the screen.
Tap "Export" at the top of the Map Items menu.
Tap the "Format" dropdown and choose either KML or GPX (onX Backcountry does not support GeoJSON format). Before choosing the file format, there are a few things to be aware of:
- Tracks exported as KML files will be converted into Lines. We recommend you Export Tracks as GPX files.
- Lines and Areas exported as GPX files will be converted into Tracks. We recommend you export Lines and Areas as KML files. Importing KML files is not available in the onX Backcountry App, so if you need to transfer Lines and Areas, please use the onX Backcountry Web Map on your computer.
Choose either GPX or KML file format and save the GPX or KML file to the files on your phone. Click here for instructions on how to import the GPX or KML file into onX Backcountry.
