Waypoints, Routes, Lines, Shapes, and Tracks you create using Map Tools or the Tracker are saved in your My Content Menu. You can use the My Content Menu to find and organize your Markups.
If you have a large number (500+) of Markups, this may degrade the performance of the onX Backcountry App and Web Map. To help everything run smoothly, we recommend you hide any Markups you don't currently need, and delete Markups you won't need again.
My Content also includes Saved Content, which allows you to keep track of your favorite backcountry ski lines, hiking trails, and SNOTELs. Click here to learn more about Saved Content.

Editing Markups in the onX Backcountry App
Tap the three dots next to any Markup in the My Content Menu, and choose "Edit" from the Markup Options Menu.
You can also tap a Markup on your map, then tap "Edit" in the bottom row of buttons.
Swipe the Edit Markup Card up to view more.
Make your changes and tap "Save."
- Type: change a Waypoint's icon.
- Color: change the color of a Markup.
- Style: change the line style of a Route, Line or Shape.
- Photos: add Photos to a Waypoint.
- Folder: add the Markup to a Custom Folder.
- Notes: add notes to the Markup.
Sorting and Filtering Markups in the onX Backcountry App
"Sorting" groups Markups in the My Content Menu by icons or colors. "Filtering" hides Markups with specific properties on your map and in the My Content Menu to make it easier to see just the Markups you need.
Tap "All Content," "Waypoints," "Routes," "Lines," "Shapes," or "Tracks" below the “Add Folder” button to view your Markups of that type.
Tap the “Sort” button at the top of the menu.
You can Sort your content by:
- Type (Waypoints, Lines, Shapes, and Tracks).
- Date (New to Old, or Old to New).
- Ascending (0-9, A-Z).
- Descending (Z-A, 9-0).
Tap the "Filter" button at the top of the menu.
You can Filter your content by:
- Show only content Shared with you by another onX Backcountry user.
- Show only Waypoints with photos.
- Show only Waypoints with specific icons.
"Only list content on the map" filters out any Markups not currently shown on the map on your screen.
Organizing your Markups using Custom Folders in the onX Backcountry App
Custom Folders allow you to group Markups into a single file to make them easier to organize. This is a great way to keep Markups from the same trip together.
Creating a new Folder:
Tap the “Add Folder” button in the My Content Menu.
We recommend you give your new custom Folder a distinctive name to make it easier to find again. After creating Folders, they are listed at the top of the My Content Menu.
To add a Markup to a custom Folder, tap the three dots next to the Markup, then tap “Add Markup to Folder.” You can add a Markup to multiple custom Folders.
To add multiple Markups to a Folder at the same time, tap the "Select" button at the top of the Markup Type Menu.
Swipe the "Select Content" Menu up to see your Markups in list form.
Tap the checkbox next to the Markups you want to add to the Folder.
After selecting the Markups you want to add, tap the "Add to Folder" button at the bottom of the screen.
Editing a Folder:
Tap a Folder at the top of the My Content Menu to edit it.
Tap the three dots next to any Markup to view the Markup's options.
- Edit: change a Markups’ colors, Line style, Line weight, and Waypoint icon.
- Remove from folder: remove the Markup from the Folder.
- Share: share the Markup with another onX Backcountry user.
- Add Photo: attach a photo to a Waypoint.
- Go to Waypoint: draw a straight line from your location to the location of a Waypoint.
- Hide on map: make the Markup invisible on the map.
Use the buttons at the bottom of the screen to add Markups to or remove Markups from the Folder.
Swipe left to Rename, Export, or Delete the Folder. Markups in the Folder will not be deleted.

Hiding Markups removes them from your map to make it easier to see map features underneath. To hide Markups, select a content type from the My Content Menu.
Tap the three dots next to the Markup you want to hide, then tap "Hide."
To hide all Markups of a specific type at once, add the Markups to a custom Folder, and tap "Hide on map" at the top of the Folder's Menu.

Manage your Markups (Waypoints, Routes, Lines, Shapes, and Tracks) using the My Content Menu. Any changes you make will automatically update your content on all devices.
By default, Markups are sorted by type. Click "All Content," "Waypoints," "Routes," "Tracks," "Areas," or "Lines" to view Markups of that type.
Click the three dots next to any Markup to view the Markup's options.
- Edit: change a Markups’ colors, Line style, Line weight, and Waypoint icon.
- Add to folder: add a Markup to one of your custom Folders.
- Share: share the Markup with another onX Backcountry user.
- Add Photo: attach a photo to a Waypoint.
- Delete: remove the Markup from your account.
